In 1850, Vasile Pogor (the father) built this “House of Lightened Windows”. It hosted the “Junimea” (Youth) Literary Society (since 1863), and the magazine “Literary Discussions” (1867). Since 1972 it is the headquarter of the Museum of Romanian Literature. Here is the famous “Junimea Saloon”, where grand classics of Romanian literature have read their masterpieces. The rooms display unique objects that belonged to various cultural personalities (such as Mihai Eminescu’s golden watch) and precious furniture. The headquarter of „Dacia Literară” cultural magazine is found here, next to the Attic-Galleries at the last floor, hosting literary and art events such as the International Festival of Literature and Translation (October). The yard and the street fill up with youth during the “Street Delivery” and „Șotron” festivals (early June). (PHOTO : Cosmin CEUCĂ)
