Reopened in 1925, the edifice is the greatest expression of Neogothic style and marks the end of Romanticism in Romanian architecture. The defining elements are: the central 55m high tower, rich heraldic decorations, crenels, recesses, and armoured cavaliers on the rooftop. The Hall of Honour is paved with a bestiary with fantastic animals (after the model of the church Saint Pierre sur Dives from Britany, 13th Century). The Art Museum displays works of famous painters such as Nicolae Grigorescu, Octav Băncilă, Theodor Pallady and Nicolae Tonitza. The Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia features a variety of folk traditions, including costumes and wooden tools. Finally, the Science and Techniques Museum offers a tour through the world of music boxes, photographic techniques and telecommunications.(PHOTO : Mădălina URSU)
