Strada Titu Maiorescu 12, Iași 700460, România
This museum was installed in 2011 in an aristocratic house, built in 1911 in the style of Neo-Romanian architecture. It carries on two traditions of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University: the Academic Museum opened in 1985 in the Rector’s Office and the Antiquities Museum, founded by Orest Tafrali in 1916. The Academic Museum on the first floor features the Rector’s office, and displays the flags of the first three founding faculties, as well as documents, photographs, medals and old devices. At the ground floor, the Cucuteni Museum features aspects of life and customs of this mysterious civilisation. The splendid ceramic vases with the famous spiral pattern and anthropo/zoo-morphic motifs are the main attractions, as well as the goddesses in the dark room which reproduce a mystical atmosphere from 7000 years ago.
