Șorogari Hill

The Șorogari Hill (hill no. 5) is mainly dedicated to agriculture. The hill, covered with vineyards and orchards, was the location of a State Agricultural Farm during the communist time. Its gentle peak is parallel with the Copou Hill and the airport plateau. The peak offers a clear panorama of the “Mihail Sadoveanu” Museum Tower, the stadium, the “Târgușor” and “Agronomie” student campuses, as well as the ski slope. The West slope is a favourite week-end destination for picnics and sports activities. The downhill route follows a vegetation tunnel all the way to the Cârlig village, descending towards the Cacaina creek down to the E58 road that connects Iași and Kishinev. The route leads to the church of St. Nicholas of Aroneanu (1594), a masterpiece of the Moldavian style. (PHOTO : Cosmin CEUCĂ)
