Pasajul Banu 9, Iași 700127, România
The church was initially built in wood by the boyar Savin Zmucilă vel Ban in 1705 on this property then situated in the outskirts of the city, in the Suburb of Paupers. Due to its deterioration and small size, the metropolitan Iacob Stamati rebuilt it in 1802 in its actual stone form, naming it “All Saints’ Sunday” Church. Inside, there is the Baroque gilded iconostasis sculpted in linden wood and painted in Byzantine style. The mural Renaissance painting can be noted through its warm colours, unusual for Orthodox churches, and decorated ribbons. The Baroque style dominates the exterior through the stucco ornaments around the large and bright windows, and through the corniche’s crenels. The steeple is situated in an unusual place, above the narthex, at the entrance. Underground there is a church museum. (PHOTO : Alexandra CEHAN)
