Students’ Culture House

The former Youth House was built between 1960-1962 in the Socialist Realism style, partially over the foundation of Beldiman Palace, known as „Jockey Club”, which was demolished in 1959. The building perfectly illustrates communist propaganda by the impressive volume and the bas-reliefs placed on the façade. It symbolises the arts, applied by young robust proletarian people. The Grand Hall has been the stage of many theatre, music and dancing groups that have delighted youth, such as “Roșu și Negru” band, the famous drummer Ovidiu Lipan “Ţăndărică”, the “Divertis” humour group, the Folk Dance Ensemble “Doina Carpaţilor”, the “Quasar” Science Fiction literary circle, and the “Ludic” Students’ Theatre.
